01 / SELECTED CONCEPTS

Pick the one that
looks like you.

Nine concept websites for the kinds of businesses Mado builds for. All of them are fictional businesses made to show what is possible. None is a client project.

NINE DIRECTIONS, READ CLOSELY

Borrow the thinking,
not the business.

Each concept below is a fictional business built as a working four-page website at five levels. The notes say what the design is doing and why, so you can take the thinking even if your business is nothing like it.

01 / A LITTLE TIME / A FRESH DIRECTION

Riverbend Studio Barber & salon · A little off. A lot more you.

A barbershop sells confidence more than haircuts, so the page leads with a face and a line, not a price list. Everything else waits one scroll below.

Design choices

  • Ink-dark palette with one warm accent, so the photography carries the color
  • A service list that reads like a menu: short names, plain prices, one request button
  • A guided appointment request that asks three things and never pretends to book

What a visitor can do

  • Build an appointment request around service and a sample day and time
  • Revisit and edit an earlier choice
  • Prepare a local summary without reserving a real slot

02 / HEATING / COOLING / PLUMBING

Signal Home Systems HVAC & plumbing · When the house won’t cooperate.

Nobody browses a heating and plumbing site for fun. People arrive with a problem, often at a bad moment, so the opening asks what is wrong and gets out of the way.

Design choices

  • A technical blue with high-contrast type, built to be read on a phone in a hallway
  • Problem-first structure: heating, cooling or plumbing before anything about the company
  • A service-request builder that turns a vague complaint into an organized message

What a visitor can do

  • Change the request path based on heating, cooling, or plumbing
  • Review and edit any earlier answer before preparing the brief
  • Show sample visit windows with an explicit availability disclaimer

03 / ROOFING / EXTERIORS / REMODELING

Timberline Projects Roofing & remodeling · A house. With more possibility.

Remodeling is bought on trust and imagination. Oversized photography and an unhurried grid let a visitor picture their own house before they read a word about process.

Design choices

  • Charcoal and paper, with the photography doing the talking
  • Project directions you can filter and shortlist, labeled as directions, never as results
  • A planning overlay that gathers materials and priorities into a brief

What a visitor can do

  • Compare project directions using reference photography, without claiming real results
  • Shortlist project directions and combine them into a brief
  • Edit materials and priorities before reviewing the request

04 / THE TABLE / THE SEASON / THE COMPANY

Supper & Season Restaurant · Stay for one more.

A restaurant page has one job on a phone: make you want to go tonight, then tell you how. The menu is the content, so it gets the best typography on the site.

Design choices

  • Burgundy and candlelight tones; serif headlines that feel like a printed menu
  • A filterable sample menu ahead of the story, because the menu is why people came
  • Table and private-event requests that stay requests: nothing is booked here

What a visitor can do

  • Shortlist fictional dishes and build a sample dining plan
  • Choose party details and a sample time window
  • Prepare a table or private-event brief without booking anything

05 / GOOD COFFEE / A SLOWER MOMENT

Daybreak Coffee Cafe · Your usual. Only better.

A cafe is a habit. The page is warm, quick and a little playful, with the drink builder as the thing you come back to.

Design choices

  • Terracotta warmth and rounded shapes, friendly on a small screen
  • A drink builder with a local cart that demonstrates ordering without taking an order
  • Hours and the way to the door, always one tap away

What a visitor can do

  • Add differently customized drinks to a local cart
  • Edit quantities and remove items
  • Review a sample pickup plan without submitting an order or payment

06 / USEFUL OBJECTS / CONSIDERED DETAILS

Object & Everyday Boutique shop · The things you reach for.

Small shops win on taste. Generous space, large product studies and quiet type let each object sit on its own.

Design choices

  • A minimal palette; the products provide the color
  • A collection you can compare, favorite and gather in a local cart
  • A delivery-plan preview with payment switched off, so nothing is implied

What a visitor can do

  • Compare product variants and maintain a favorites shortlist
  • Combine variants in a local cart
  • Review a fictional delivery plan while keeping payment disabled
Screenshot of the Signature level of Fieldwork Gardens, a fictional landscaping conceptFictional business · Signature level

07 / GARDENS / GROUNDS / OUTDOOR SPACES

Fieldwork Gardens Landscaping · More outside. Less elsewhere.

Gardens are about time and space, so the page breathes: wide photography, olive greens and a planner that lets a visitor sketch where seating, planting and open space might go.

Design choices

  • Olive and stone tones with expansive imagery
  • Service rows that separate one-off projects from recurring grounds care
  • A planner that prepares a brief without pretending to be a site plan

What a visitor can do

  • Assign areas such as planting, seating, and open space to a concept plan
  • Shortlist visual directions and prioritize phases
  • Prepare a project brief without presenting it as a professional site plan
Screenshot of the Signature level of Clearspace Home, a fictional cleaning conceptFictional business · Signature level

08 / HOME CLEANING / A CLEARER DAY

Clearspace Home Cleaning · Take a clean off your list.

Cleaning is bought for relief. A calm, airy composition and a scope builder that works room by room make the request feel as light as the result.

Design choices

  • A sky-fresh palette with air between elements
  • Room-by-room scope building with a live summary
  • Visit windows shown as examples, with a clear availability note

What a visitor can do

  • Build the scope by selecting rooms and optional tasks
  • Change recurrence and see the request summary update
  • Preview visit windows without claiming real availability
Screenshot of the Signature level of Contour Auto Care, a fictional auto detailing conceptFictional business · Signature level

09 / THE DETAILS / INSIDE AND OUT

Contour Auto Care Auto detailing · THE LIGHT. THE LINES. THE FINISH.

Detailing is about surfaces and light, so the page uses dark graphite, sharp geometry and photography that catches reflections. Packages compare side by side.

Design choices

  • Graphite and chrome contrasts; oversized headline type
  • Interior, exterior and combined-care packages you can compare in one view
  • A visit request that keeps every chosen option visible

What a visitor can do

  • Compare original concept images without implying a real vehicle result
  • Build a care scope and review alternative packages
  • Prepare a sample visit request with all choices visible
